Jessie Benton Steese Evans (1866-1954), an important western female artist of the early 20th century who was active/lived in Arizona and Illinois. She is known for Southwest landscape painting and etching. Landscape painting of river valley possibly Camelback Mountain, mounted in a simple gilt frame, signed lower right.
Writing on backboard in pencil: "For Mrs. Packer Pittsburg, PA to go in a larger frame in box which is to be repaired." Indicates a different frame was originally intended.
Condition: Excellent, minor frame wear, abrasions to backboard.
